Wonders of the World Tutorials

Welcome to IDV Solutions’ Wonders of the World tutorials. Our Wonders of the World site is a basic, yet powerful, example of the types of visual composite applications that we build for our customers. In Wonders of the World, we have integrated SharePoint List data, SQL Server data, external RSS feeds, external WMS layers, and the power of Visual Fusion Server to create a composite view where the whole represents more than the sum of its parts. This site is an “out-of-the-box” implementation of our Visual Fusion Suite of products, and with our product, sites like this can be created by a single individual in just a few days. Below are 3 tutorials covering fundamental interaction with the application, map annotation and adding overlays to give you a complete overview before exploring the wonders of the world demo. Experience firsthand the benefits and capabilities a visual composite application can bring to your organization to help solve your business critical needs.

General Overview
This tutorial covers fundamental interaction with the basemap and the point layers that are overlaid on top of the basemap, which together start to create a visual composite view of information. After viewing this tutorial you should be able to:
  • Navigate the map and zoom into specific locations
  • Turn point layers on and off
  • Access more information about each individual item within the various point layers
Map Annotation
This tutorial covers how to utilize one of the useful tools available in Visual Fusion to explore and add to the composite view: collaborative map annotation. After viewing this tutorial you should be able to:
  • Add points, lines, and polygons—all with commentary—to the map view
  • Save annotations as a GeoRSS feed in XML format
  • Share your annotations with others for them to view or enhance
Add Overlays
This tutorial covers how to add RSS and/or WMS overlays to enhance the composite view. After viewing this tutorial you should be able to:
  • Add a valid RSS feed to the composite view
  • Add a valid WMS feed to the composite view
  • Modify parameters in certain feeds to return filtered results
